How to take your head measurements

You need a soft tape measure (add one to any order for $8.97), a mirror, and ideally a helper. Measure with your hair as it will be worn during recordings. Take each measurement twice — if the two attempts differ by more than 0.5 cm, take a third.

C — HEAD CIRCUMFERENCE
C — Circumference. Wrap the tape around the head just above the eyebrows, over the tops of the ears, and around the occipital bump at the back. Snug, not tight. Typical: 54–60 cm.
NASION INION AP — NASION → INION
AP — Nasion to inion. Nasion is where your nose bridge meets the forehead (between the brows). Inion is the bony bump at the base of your skull. Measure over the top, along the scalp. Typical: 32–38 cm.
L R LR — EAR CANAL → EAR CANAL
LR — Preauricular arc. From the opening of one ear canal, over the crown, to the opening of the other ear canal. A helper makes this much easier. Typical: 30–36 cm.

Tips for accurate numbers

Use the right tape

A soft tailor's tape, not a metal one — it must follow the curve of the scalp.

Hair as worn

Measure with hair as it will be during sessions. Thick hair compresses; that compression is part of the fit.

Twice, then average

Record both attempts for each measurement in the form — we print to the average.
